FC Northwest U4-U8 Mini Soccer

Mini Soccer is a FUN League for children to start learning the basics of soccer, meet new friends and have fun!  The children enrolled in Mini Soccer are in the Active Start Stage - which gives them the opportunity to develop basic movement skills like running, jumping, landing, kicking, throwing, and catching in a fun setting built around informal play and positive reinforcement.

Volunteer Coaches are NEEDED in order to run our Mini Soccer Program! Without volunteers to coach, the program will not be able to operate.

Some questions that we have been asked already that we would like to address can be found below:

1) Why are there less teams at each age group than in previous seasons?

- This mini season, we wanted to put a priority on quality over quantity.

- Although we only have 2-4 teams in each age bracket, we have decided that it is best to split up the girls and the boys for their own development, while giving them opportunity to develop friendships and chemistry with teammates for the future.

- We are proud to say that we are one of the only mini programs in the city to have girls only programming from U4-U8!

2) Why is there a 20-20-20 split as opposed to 30-30 for the U4-U6 players?

- We understand that it may sometimes be difficult to get to the field for 5:45pm.

- We wanted to ensure that all players will receive the opportunity to complete the drills and game portion, so by starting with a 20-minute game, players who show up late will not miss any skill development.

3) What requirements are there for parent volunteers?

- No high level soccer knowledge is required to be a parent volunteer for the mini program.

- Our Mini Coordinator will share the drills that we have prepared for each session with parents and parents will be asked to assist in keeping the players on task with the drill they are supposed to be completing.

- Parent volunteers WILL NOT be required to come up with their own drills.

- For the game portion, parent volunteers will be asked to assist with keeping the ball in play and players on the field.
